The extended Palmer family led by Jimmy Palmer, Ballyouskill with the assistance of friends organised a series of activities to raise funds for charities both home and away. A historic walk along mass paths proved popular as did the cabaret cum auction. Thanks to the tremendous generosity and support a total of €5,600 was raised. The funding was distributed at a function in The Wheel Inn,
A team of craftsman travelled to Gambia, Africa where a local school benefited from electrical and refurbishment works to the tune of €2,000. Ballyouskill is renowned for keeping the home fires burning and both Laois Hospice (represented by Irene Murray, Treasurer) and Carlow-Kilkenny Home Care Team (represented by Ann Brennan) were awarded €1,800 each. Well done to all concerned.

About Laois Hospice

Since its inception in 1989, Laois Hospice Foundation has helped to provide a palliative care service for Cancer patients, whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment. The Hospice also provides support for the families of such patients. This total care involves doctors, nurses, a team of specialists and the clergy, who are all concerned with quality of life.
